Coalville
Gymnastics Club has gymnasts who have been training and competing for
many years. Now as Seniors they are the girls that the younger
gymnasts look up to, and are the main representatives of competitive
gymnastics for the Club. Some of our leading lights and successful
gymnasts are listed below. |

| Anna MacDonald - With a string of CGC team appearances to date and under the coaching direction of hazel Colton, "fearless" Anna is one of CGC's leading gymnasts. Took Bronze medal at the East Mids FIG Mod Junior Championships in 2004 with Silver on Vault and Bronze on Bars & Beam and went on to achieve a personal best score of 29.033 at the East Mids Open Age County Team competition 14/11/2004. A CGC team member at the Bill Slater national team competition 2004. In the last 4 years Anna has gone from strength to strength, with a 7th overall place in the Challenge Cup in 2007. Anna had no idea how well she would do and was pleasantly surprised to be in the top 10. This has spurred Anna on to greater heights this year becoming even more dedicated than before. With a bars routine including a geinger salto and pak salto, she now has a routine she is happy with. The beam and floor have always been easy for Anna and have lots of difficulty and high start values. The vault has been a big break through with a full twisting Tsukahara, ready for this year's challenge.
Jemma Thompson- Jemma is back!! After suffering a long a dificult illness and some time in hospital, Jemma has been semi-retired. However, you can't keep a good gymnast down and Jemma is fighting back to do one last competition. Already a coach within the gym, fulfilling an important role in the development of a young squad, Jemma has been no less dedicated to the sport. But . . . . it just doesn't match with the buzz of competing and so she is training hard for a final year of competition. Working on moves like full in- back out on floor and triple twists, forward, sideways and backward saltos on beam, a twisting Yurchenko on vault and tkatchevs and jaegers on bars, Jemma's regained health and fitness is certainly being tested. Jemma is certainly rising to the challenge though (no pun intended!)
Jessica Woolerton - Jessie has matured a great deal over the last two years and is becoming an important part of the senior squad, representing the East Midlands i the National Grades in 2007. With a grown up attitude towards training and desire to work towards challenge cup competitions, Jessie has taken a real knock with a problem with her knees. With patience, all will be well again after growth spurts and re-adjustments. In the mean time Jessie is working hard on skills she can do and conditioning to keep her in peak fitness.
Laura Hewitt- Laura is another who represented the East Midlands in the national Grades Finals in 2007. Laura had a good competition at the Challenge Cup in 2007, but knows she can improve on this performance and is looking forward to the competition for 2008.
Harriet Copeland - Harriet also represented the East Midlands in the 2007 National Grades Finals. This year Harriet has concentrated on new moves for the Regional Championships and a hopeful challege cup in November. Winner of the 2006 Floor Performance Award for the least deductions in a floor routine, Harriet has proved to be a beautiful dancer and a tidy gymnast.
Emily Denham - Emily is the quietest gymnast I've ever met, but don't be fooled. Behind that quiet smile, Emily is devoted and determined; certainly one of the hardest working gymnasts in the gym. A valuable team member and working hard towards the regional championships this year.
Fleur Kingsley Mills-
Kezia George -
Rhiannon Skerritt - STILL updating the website currently, so . . . . even more information on seniors soon . . . . |

These girls compete against each other for places in Team Squads, and in many cases the coaches have a great deal of difficulty selecting from this accomplished groups of gymnasts. Coalville Senior gymnasts are a dedicated group of gymnasts who have been training since they were very young; their dedication to their training and their sport is a credit to each and every one of them. Moreover, when competing their encouragement and support for one another and gymnasts from other clubs is praiseworthy; despite being opponents, good sportsmanship is considered of higher importance. |
